Qualifying for QNX CAR

In an ideal world, we’d let everybody have access to QNX CAR. QNX has an open philosophy about ecosystems and communities. Unfortunately because we’re providing loaner development boards and because of some of the complexity around third party licensing, its impossible to have a completely open door policy. If you’re an automotive OEM, tier one supplier, or third party provider of related technologies, then QNX CAR is meant for you.

Tier one supplier

Our main intention with QNX CAR is to enable tier one automotive suppliers. We’re happy to engage multiple projects within a tier one, and each project can have multiple developers working on QNX CAR. So if you’re a tier one and you think you’d like to test drive QNX CAR, we encourage you to apply online or email us for more information.

OEMs

We also expect that some automotive OEMs might want QNX CAR access since they often do prototyping in their research labs. In fact, a few of our OIL program members have been helping to kick the tires for us. (“OIL” stands for OEM Innovation Labs. The OIL program provides OEMs with free access to QNX products for the purpose of research and prototyping) OEMS are encouraged to apply to join the program, but please note you’ll need to join OIL as well.

Third party hardware and software providers

We are very interested in working with both existing and new third party partners to increase the supported technology provided by QNX CAR.
